Muntinlupa mobile service issues 7,000 passports for 2008

-

Close to 7,000 persons, both residents and non-residents of Muntinlupa, were issued passports since January through the innovative mobile passport service in the city.

Data from the city’s Public Employment Service Office (PESO) showed that of 8,506 applicants, 6,995 were issued passports in the city. The PESO manages the program jointly with the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).

Mayor Aldrin San Pedro said first-time applicants and those who will renew their passports are qualified to apply for the passport program. Applicants only need to submit documents including an authenticated birth certificate to the PESO before the processing day.

A number of DFA personnel visit Muntinlupa to interview the applicants and check the documents. The mobile passport service is being held in two venues: the Festival Supermall and the SM Supercenter in Muntinlupa. – Rhodina Villanueva
