3 bodies in garbage heap identified

Police have identified the three men whose bodies were stuffed in nylon sacks and dumped on a garbage heap in Tondo, Manila last Tuesday.

Chief Inspector Alberto Peco who heads the homicide section of the Manila Police District said one of the victims, Rolly Alvenda, was identified by his common-law wife, Teresa Malida. Alvenda, 38, of Tambacan, Port Area, Manila, worked as a vegetable carrier in Divisoria, according to Malida.

The other victims were identified as Celso Marvella, 27, and Rex Cubio, 25, who were reportedly Alvenda’s co-workers.

Peco said records show the victims were not arrested in any Manila police station.

“We are now trying to determine whether there are individuals who want these victims dead who could have ordered their killings,” Peco said. – Nestor Etolle
