Chinese drug suspect nabbed in Sta. Cruz
A Chinese national who is allegedly one of the key distributors of illegal drugs in Sta. Cruz, Manila was arrested in a police sting yesterday afternoon.
Anti-illegal drugs operatives of the National Capital Regional Police Office (NCRPO) apprehended Zhi Ong alias Eddie, 41, a sales agent residing in Binondo, Manila, in the act of transacting a drug deal with a police undercover agent.
He yielded 50 grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu in a Chinese gift envelope (or ang pao), according to NCRPO chief Director Leopoldo Bataoil, as well as another 150 grams of shabu in a plastic sachet.
Prior to his arrest, police said Ong had been reportedly posing as a sales agent as his cover to transact drug deals with his clients.
“He’s been the subject of police intelligence monitoring over the proliferation of illegal drugs in the area and we finally bagged him,” Bataoil said.
The suspect is currently detained at the NCRPO detention cell in Bicutan on illegal drug charges.– Jaime Laude
