Man kills self by drinking jewelry cleaner

A jobless man committed suicide in Malabon yesterday after receiving news that his wife was working at a beer joint in northern Luzon.

The victim’s mother, Jennylyn Ortega, told police that Arturo Buan, 23, objected to the idea of his wife working at a beer joint but Buan’s wife had her way and left him two weeks ago.

Neighbors saw Buan go out of the house and throw away a bottle of silver polish, which is toxic when ingested. They told Buan’s relatives, who rushed into the house and found the victim unconscious and frothing at the mouth.

Buan was taken to the Tondo Medical Center but was declared dead on arrival. – Jerry Botial
