The Muntinlupa City government, in cooperation with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-National Capital Region (NCR), launched a career advocacy program to help the city’s high-school students prepare for college.
“This is a great chance for high-school students to enter different companies in the city so that they will have an idea on how each establishment operates,” Mayor Aldrin San Pedro said.
Last Friday, close to 100 third year high school students of the Muntinlupa National High School and Pedro E. Diaz High School were given a tour of the Bellevue Hotel and APAC Customer Services call center in Alabang, and Greenwich Pizza at the SM Mall in Barangay Tunasan.
The “Discover the World of Work” (D-WOW) program is being carried out by the city’s Public Employment and Service Office (PESO) and the DOLE-NCR.
The D-WOW program aims to prepare potential entrants to the labor force in making future career decisions through field trips and educational tours to companies identified as key employment generators in the next five to seven years, according to the DOLE-NCR and PESO. – Rhodina Villanueva
