A policeman and his wife were gunned down in front of their house in Quezon City Saturday night.
The killing may have been related to a land dispute between Police Officer 3 Charlie Aguilar, 47, and his wife’s cousin, according to the police.
Superintendent Marcelino Pedrozo Jr., chief of the homicide investigation section of the Quezon City Police District, said the dispute involving a property in Bulacan was the “closest angle” they were looking into.
He also mentioned another dispute in which Aguilar, who was assigned at the Philippine National Police Headquarters Support Service in Camp Crame, was recently involved. The dispute has been settled.
Aguilar and his wife, Zenaida, 47, were declared dead on arrival at the General Malvar Hospital because of gunshot wounds they sustained in the head, face and body.
According to a police report, the incident happened at 6:30 p.m. in front of the couple’s house in Freedom Park at Barangay Batasan Hills.
The couple had just arrived home after buying items at a store in Cubao. As they were about to enter the house, two men appeared. One of the suspects shot the couple, approached Aguilar and took his service firearm.
The couple’s son witnessed the incident and tried to chase the suspects, who fled the scene on a motorcycle. – Reinir Padua
