The body of a seven-year-old boy was found floating in the coastal area of Parañaque City early yesterday.
Senior Police Officer 1 Allan Abarra said John Jake Mata’s body was already decomposing when Barangay La Huerta residents found him around 2:20 a.m.
Abarra said the boy had been missing for at least four days since he fell into a creek in Barangay Moonwalk. Mata and his friend, Mark Anthony Asilla, 12, were seen playing near the creek during heavy rains Tuesday afternoon.
Mata tried to swim when he fell into the water, but strong currents carried him away.
Asilla tried to save Mata, but also fell into the creek and relatives fear he may have also drowned. Police said a search for Asilla is ongoing. – Rhodina Villanueva
