Burglars broke into a house in Quezon City last Saturday and took away items more than P400,000 owned by two staff members of a television station.
The burglary at the house of John Raymond Lorzano in Barangay Pinyahan was discovered Saturday afternoon.
Superintendent Aspirinio Cabula, commander of the Quezon City Police District-Station 10, said Lorzano was out of the house when the break-in happened.
The stolen items include a laptop computer worth P10,000 owned by Lorzano and two cameras – one worth P250,000 and another valued at P150,000 – owned by Lorzano’s co-worker, Ryan Ramos.
Ramos, 26, is reportedly an executive producer at television station UNTV. Lorzano, 23, also works as a volunteer video editor at the same firm.
Case investigator PO3 John Sales said the burglars used a “false key” to pick the lock on the door.
Cabula said he believes the burglars belong to the small bands of robbers from slum areas along NIA Road and in front of the National Power Corp. building.
According to Cabula, these robbers are the ones usually behind the cases of burglary in Barangay Pinyahan and on the “K Streets” of Barangay Kamuning.
Cabula said the residences in these areas are apartment units and townhouses occupied by middle-income earners, including employees of television networks that hold offices nearby.
He said burglars target these residences because of the many valuables items they expect to see inside these houses. – Reinir Padua
