Valenzuela City offers new courses for scholars

Councilor Alvin Feliciano who is also the president of the Liga ng mga Barangay announced yesterday that criminology and education courses are now included in Valenzuela City’s scholarship program,

Feliciano said the courses were included in their scholarship program to give a chance to poor but deserving students to realize their dream of becoming police officers and educators.

“We noted that many students residing in Valenzuela are very interested in becoming police officers and teachers. So we decided to include criminology and education courses in our scholarship program,” he said.

Valenzuela’s scholarship program also offers automotive repair and maintenance courses, computer-related studies and bookkeeping.

Feliciano said students who want to avail of the scholarship program should to go Valenzuela City Convention Center (VCCC) in Barangay Malinta or call telephone number 2945583 for further details.

“We believe that the youth is the hope of the motherland and by giving them the chance to educate themselves, we are laying the cornerstone for the future,” he said.

Feliciano also thanked Valenzuela Mayor Sherwin Gatchalian and Valenzuela First District Rep. Rex Gatchalian for supporting the project.

Candidates for the scholarship are given a series of qualification examinations designed to weed out the academically unfit.

Successful examinees are given book and transportation stipends aside from the above-mentioned scholarship assistance.

Scholars who graduate are then assisted by the city government in finding jobs, which matches their educational qualification.

Feliciano also expressed gratitude to Datamex College, Global Reciprocal College and Splash Foundation for providing assistance to Valenzuela’s scholarship program. – Jerry Botial
