P.6-M steel bars recovered in Valenzuela
Police have recovered a shipment of steel bars worth P600,000 that went missing while being delivered to a buyer in Valenzuela on Thursday.
Leonardo Capangyarihan, 56, was arrested after at least 86 pieces of steel bars were found in front of his house in Sitio Kabatuhan in Barangay Mapulang-Lupang in the same city.
Valenzuela police chief Senior Superintendent Ranier Idio said the used steel bars owned by Cathay Pacific Steel Corp. in Cainta, Rizal was scheduled for delivery to TKL Steel Corp. in Barangay Mapulang-Lupa when they disappeared.
Investigation showed at around noon Thursday, Nelson Sia, a trader from Cainta, Rizal, sought police assistance upon learning that his 10-wheeler truck, along with its driver, Pedrito Alolor and helper Roger Tolentino, went missing.
Sia said the truck, loaded with used steel bars, left the Cathay Pacific Steel Corp. compound in Cainta, Rizal at around 3 a.m. and was supposed to deliver the cargo to TKL Steel Corp. in Barangay Mapulang-Lupa early that morning.
A few hours later, the police learned that a shipment of used steel bars was found at a vacant lot in Sitio Kabatuhan in Barangay Mapulang-Lupang near the house of a policeman.
Sia confirmed to police that the steel bars were part of the shipment to be delivered to TKL.
Police were still investigating the case yesterday as the truck driver and his helper remain missing.– Pete Laude
