Through wireless technology, Mayor Sigfrido Tiñga addressed more than 10,000 elderly persons who converged at eight different venues for the simultaneous holding of the city’s first “Senior Citizens Congress” over the weekend.
“Our senior citizens are our reliable partners in growth and development and we wanted to share the benefits of the technological innovations we are about to introduce in Taguig with them,” Tiñga said.
Through teleconferencing, one of the technological innovations of the wireless broadband system that will be rolled out in Taguig by the city government and Blue Media Communications, delegates just had to converge at a designated site nearest their barangay then watch the proceedings at the main venue, the covered court in Hagonoy, on a giant screen.
Program hosts and the participants were also able to communicate with those in the other venues, to the amusement of the elders.
Those who have relatives abroad were given the chance to place a long distance call to their loved ones for free through Blue Media Communications.– Rhodina Villanueva
