BOC can sell off Imelda jewelry
October 17, 2008 | 12:00am
Presidential Commission on Good Government commissioner Ricardo Abcede said it is up to the Bureau of Customs to take the initiative and sell off the seized jewelry of former First Lady Imelda Marcos, estimated at P15 billion.
Abcede said 80 percent of the Marcos jewels are stored in BOC vaults, while the rest are with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas.
He is optimistic that the jewels would fetch high prices, considering the lingering fascination with the former first lady. – Rainier Allan Ronda
