A couple are in hot water for spilling hot coffee on a dancer and slandering her companion at the height of a quarrel in a doughnut shop in San Juan City Sunday night.
Mary Mae de la Cerna, 21, who belongs to the EB Babes dance group of Eat Bulaga, sustained first-degree burns on her shoulder. She appeared at the San Juan City police station to file charges against Fabian and Theresa de la Paz of Barangay Little Baguio, San Juan City.
San Juan police chief Superintendent Popoy Lipana said De la Cerna and fellow EB Babes Ann Bochele and Saida Diola, both 21, went to the doughnut shop in Greenhills at around 8:45 p.m.
After getting their choice of doughnuts, the three dancers proceeded to the counter to pay. However, Theresa allegedly stopped De la Cerna and her companions, claiming that her son was ahead of them in line.
De la Cerna then signaled to her companions to follow her to the end of the line. The police said Diola was about to pay for her purchase when Theresa allegedly pinched her and called her names.
De la Cerna said she approached Fabian and apologized, telling him that his wife may have thought they wanted to cut into the line, “but it’s not the case.”
At this juncture, Fabian stood up and poured hot coffee on De la Cerna. Bochele sought the assistance of security guard Gunnar Myren, who accosted Fabian.
The De la Paz couple could not be reached for comment.
The police are preparing to charge Fabian with less serious physical injuries and Theresa with slander.
