QC government employee shot dead

A 63-year-old Quezon City Hall employee was gunned down in an ambush while he was on his way to church yesterday morning.

Jesus Sinambal, an employee at the Civil Registrar’s Office, was shot in the face, with the bullet going out through the top of his head.

Police Officer 3 Joseph Diño said the four suspects, who rode a black Ford Lynx (CRJ-893) have yet to be identified.

However, the vehicle they used was recovered by the police after they left it behind when the sedan bumped into another car after they chased the victim.

The victim reportedly had previous threats to his life. SPO3 Leonardo Pasco cited an incident three years ago when armed men barged into Sinambal’s house in Barangay Culiat and shot a brother-in-law who got mistaken for him.

Diño said the incident happened at 9:20 a.m. yesterday along Pinnacle Drive in Barangay Culiat just as Sinambal was driving his blue Mitsubishi Lancer (CFW-157).

Sinambal was on the road when the suspects bumped their vehicle into the left portion of his car.

Sensing danger, Sinambal sped away, with the suspects hot on his tail. Sinambal lost control of his car, which crashed into a concrete wall.

At that point, the suspects’ car also bumped into a Mercedez Benz coming from the opposite direction.

Just as the three vehicles were stalled on the road, the four assailants got out of their car and one of them pulled out a handgun and shot Sinambal.

The suspects then commandeered a tricycle they used until they reached a gasoline station on Tandang Sora Avenue. The suspects left behind the tricycle and escaped. – Reinir Padua
