ROTC sa 2 kolehiyo sa Maynila, mandatory na

Ibinalik na ni Manila Mayor Alfredo S. Lim ang in-abolished na Reserved Officers Training Corps (ROTC) sa dalawang kole­hiyo na pinatatakbo ng pamahalaang lungsod ng Maynila kung saan ma­giging bahagi na uli ito ng kurso sa Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) at City Colleges of Manila (CCM).

Ang malaking pagba­ba­gong ito sa kurikulum sa dalawang paaralan ay ginawa ni Lim makaraang mapag-alaman at ikadis­maya nito ang kakaunting estud­yante sa kolehiyo na nag­papatala para sa ROTC.

Base sa tala na isinu­mite ni Lt. Col. Tranquilino Belardo, Philippine Army and CCM-ROTC Com­man­dant, mayroon la­mang 974 na nagpare­histro sa ROTC mula sa 3, 020 fresh­men enrolees sa CCM.

Binigyan- diin ni Lim na dapat na matimo sa isipan ng mga mag-aaral mula sa PLM at CCM ang kahala­gahan ng military discipline and training at ang ma­gandang epekto nito sa kanilang kinabukasan.

“They should follow what the city requires of them. That is to take up mandatory military training service. They should follow what the city requires of them. That is to take up man­datory military training service,” adding that stu­ dents of CCM and PLM are city scholars and do not pay tuition or miscella­neous fees, dagdag pa ng Mayor.

Samantala tiniyak naman ni Lim na ang mga nasa sophomore, junior at senior year na ay wala pa ring lusot dahil   kailangan pa rin nilang kumuha ng ROTC training o MTSI 1 and 2 (Military Service Training). (Doris Franche)
