Man uses racy video to blackmail student

A man was charged with grave threats and exploitation of minors before the Manila Prosecutor’s Office after he tried to blackmail a 17-year-old nursing student whom he videotaped romancing with her boyfriend in the ladies’ room of a movie theater.

National Bureau of Investigation Director Nestor Mantaring said his men arrested utility man Jerry Guardapies Lutero, 34, after the girl’s father complained that Lutero had asked his daughter to have sex with him in exchange for the video of her tryst with her boyfriend.

Investigations showed Lutero, who is detained at the NBI, interrogated the girl and her boyfriend after catching them in a compromising situation.

Lutero copied the cellular phone number printed at the back of the nursing student’s identification card before releasing the couple. Two days later, Lutero sent a text message to the student to meet him or else he would post the video on the Internet.

Unknown to the suspect, the cell phone belongs to the student’s father, who realized the intended recipient of the message was his daughter.

He confronted his daughter, who admitted to the incident at the mall. The father and daughter sought the assistance of the NBI, which planned an entrapment operation.

Last Sept. 12, NBI agents arrested Lutero when he met with the victim at the mall and showed her the video.  – Sandy Araneta
