Metro Manila police chief Director Geary Barias has ordered the dismissal of five policemen from the service yesterday for failing to attend court hearings.
“I’m very disappointed with these policemen. Their failure and refusal to appear in court, despite the issuance of necessary subpoena, led to the dismissal of the criminal case against illegal drug suspects,” he said.
Police Officer 3 Rene Saul, PO2 Victor Aquino, PO2 Reyno Riparip, and PO1 Estelito Mortega, all from the Quezon City Police District; and PO2 Reynaldo Labon of the Regional Headquarters Security Group based at Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City were found to have “successively failed or refused to appear before the Regional Trial Court of Quezon City Branch 82, where the criminal case against suspected drug pushers Helen Roxas and Jessie Rosetes was being heard,” Barias said. – Non Alquitran
