Trader accidentally shoots self dead in Caloocan

A Chinese-Filipino businessman reportedly shot himself dead accidentally with his own handgun in Caloocan City Saturday night.

Superintendent Jose Ramirez Valencia, Caloocan City police Station Investigation and Detective Management Branch chief, identified the victim as 53-year-old Ramon Go, a resident of New Manila in Quezon City.

Go sustained a single gunshot wound in the head from a .45 caliber pistol and died on the spot.

SIDMB night-shift investigator Police Officer 1 Alejandro Billedo, in his report to Valencia only said that the incident occurred in a garage at 71 Pag-asa Street in Barangay 130, Bo. San Jose, Caloocan City at around 10:45 p.m. Go was reportedly about to pick up his fallen car keys on the garage floor and at the same time taking his handgun placed on top of a washing machine with another hand when he accidentally squeezed the gun’s trigger. The pistol reportedly fired hitting Go in the right portion of his head killing him on the spot.

A Remington .45 pistol was recovered near Go’s body at the garage and one spent shell for the same handgun. Valencia said the pistol is licensed to the victim. The victim’s body was brought to the police crime laboratory for autopsy.

Valencia, when asked what Go was doing at a garage in Caloocan City during the incident said that they were still investigating. But he said he would request that all of the victim’s companions during the incident would undergo paraffin test.

 “We are still waiting for the results. I’ll have you updated if there are developments,” Valencia said in a text message. – Pete Laude
