A policeman is now the subject of an investigation after he allegedly shot and seriously wounded his teenage neighbor in Pasay City late Thursday night.
Chief Inspector Joey Goforth, chief of the Pasay police investigation section, said Police Officer 3 Luis Jomok III, 41, surrendered to authorities after he allegedly shot Billy Lozada, 19. Jomok is assigned at the Rizal provincial office.
Lozada sustained two gunshot wounds in the chest and is under observation at the Ospital ng Maynila.
Witness Ramil Elizondo, 18, told police investigators that at around 11 p.m., they were eating at a roadside eatery when they heard gunshots and saw Jomok holding a gun and running after the victim.
After Lozada fell to the ground, the suspect hurriedly left.
Jomok also allegedly shot a passing car by accident. Car owner Ferlyhn Francisco, 23, a resident in the area, said it was Jomok who shot and damaged the right side mirror and window of her green Mitsubishi Lancer (PPR-588).
The police said Jomoc is facing charges of frustrated murder, but if Lozada dies, the charges may be upgraded to murder. – Rhodina Villanueva
