Munti records 57% drop in crimes
City police chief Superintendent Alfredo Valdez told Mayor Aldrin San Pedro that a total of 301 crimes were reported in the city from July 2007 to May this year, representing a 57 percent drop from the 501 crimes reported from July 2006 to May 2007.
“Of the 301 cases, 281 have been solved, thereby resulting in a 93.35 percent crime solution efficiency rate. This is higher than what was recorded earlier, from July 2006 to May 2007, where a 90.24 percent crime solution efficiency rate was noted,”
Index crimes such as murder, rape, homicide and robbery dropped to 178 from July 2007 to May this year. Of this figure, there were 15 murder cases, 22 homicides, 21 physical injury cases, 47 robberies, 67 thefts, and eight rape cases. From July 2006 to May 2007, there were 327 index crimes reported.
The Muntinlupa police said it has been stepping up efforts to curb crimes by busting different crime groups that operate in the city.
This year, the Muntinlupa police was adjudged the Best Police Station and its Special Weapons and Tactics team cited as the Best SWAT in the Southern Police District.
