Taguig exec says Embassy could be another Ozone

The Taguig City government said it is set to look into a report by the local Bureau of Fire and Protection (BFP) office that the Embassy Bar is often overcrowded.

Jeff Minglana, chief of the city’s Business Permit and License Office (BPLO), said they will address this by conducting regular inspections of the Embassy Super Club and its sister establishment, the Embassy Fly.

“The BFP expressed fears that the overcrowding might result to a stampede just like what happened at the Ozone disco in 1995,” Minglana said.

He said officials of the establishment will have to address this issue aside from complying with other rules imposed on them before they can re-open the bar, which was shut down following a report that a disc jockey beat up a guest last month.

“We will ask them to install additional security cameras inside and outside the bar area. We were informed that there are already 40 CCTVs in the bar’s premises but we will require them to double it,” Minglana said.

The management would also be required to employ additional security guards and bouncers to ensure peace and order while a party or any activity is ongoing inside.

Even sniffing dogs will also be made to guard every door of the Embassy. The Embassy Bar has three entrances, while the Fly has two. – Rhodina Villanueva
