To give Pasigueños the opportunity to celebrate Pasig City’s 435th founding day today, Malacañang declared July 2 as a special non-working holiday.
In behalf of President Arroyo, Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita signed Proclamation No. 1541 declaring July 2 as a non-working holiday in Pasig City.
Pasig City Mayor Robert Eusebio said the declaration would indeed give the city’s residents time to reflect and observe the significance of the event.
Pasig City is one of the country’s oldest known settlements dating back to the Spanish era and is now one of the country’s leading urban and commercial centers.
In the past four weeks, the city government has lined up a series of activities to mark the occasion, culminating with a Grand Parade and Street Dancing Competition today. – Non Alquitran
