A motorcycle manufacturer lost P5 million worth of automotive wiring that was supposed to be delivered to it the other day, authorities reported yesterday.
The wiring was in a container van that came out of the Manila International Container Port at North Harbor. The van was found abandoned and empty in Caloocan, its unidentified driver missing.
The wiring was due for delivery to Yazaki Torres Manufacturing in Calamba, Laguna. Reports said the container van was carried by a head tractor that belonged to hauler RG Gumatay Express Transport.
Senior Police Officer 1 Carlos Almario said they gathered from RGG Express Transport operations manager Luis Doleton that the truck left North Harbor at around 10:30 p.m. of June 17 for the load to be delivered to Laguna.
The van was loaded with 22 tons of wiring estimated at P5-million, said Joseph Bernal, RGGET information officer. Bernal has been advised to report the incident to the Manila Police District.
The recovered empty container van has been put in the temporary custody of Bernal for RGGET. A manhunt is underway for the arrest of the driver. – Jerry Botial
