Guard killed in Caloocan robbery

-

Three unidentified armed men killed a security guard during a late afternoon robbery of a baby care products shop in Caloocan City Friday.

Superintendent Reynaldo Orante, Northern Police District-District Police Intelligence Unit (NPD-DPIU) chief, identified the fatality as Ramon Gallos, 40, a resident of Barangay Culiat in Quezon City.

Gallos, employed by the Commander Security Agency and detailed to guard the office of K-Vill Merchandize Inc. in Dagat-Dagatan, died from multiple stab wounds.

Police Officer 3 Enrique Pangan, NPD-DPIU investigator, said three suspects, armed with knives and handguns, barged into the K-Vill Merchandize office at around 6 p.m.

“Two of the suspects disarmed the lone security guard and stabbed him dead when he tried to resist while the other one served as the lookout at the gate,” Pangan told The STAR.

Pangan said the secondary gate of the company was open at that time to accommodate customers buying goods such as bath and laundry soap, diaper and other baby care products.

“The suspects used knives instead of their guns in neutralizing the guard to avoid detection from the outside,” Pangan said.

After killing Gallos, the suspects ordered cashier Edlin Condat to hand them the company’s earnings, amounting to around P50,000.

The suspects fled on foot in different directions with their loot but left behind the slain guard’s .38 caliber revolver with bullets.

“The suspects could only be here in Dagat-Dagatan, for instead of using a get-away vehicle they just fled on foot,” Pangan said.

Orante directed his men yesterday to conduct follow-up operations for the immediate identification and arrest of the robbers. – Pete Laude, Jerry Botial
