A 38-year-old police informant was shot dead by a gunman in broad daylight yesterday in Malabon City.
Police Officer 2 Enrique Pangan, Northern Police District-District Police Intelligence Unit (NPD-DPIU) investigator, said the gunman shot Jun Hilis pointblank in the left eye and the bullet exited in the back of the victim’s head.
Hilis was a resident of Dagat-Dagatan Avenue in Caloocan City.
“We are still trying to establish the motive behind the killing, (because even if) the murder occurred in broad daylight, nobody came forward and talked to the police,” Pangan said.
Pangan said Hilis was walking along Labahita street in Area 3, Phase 2, Dagat-Dagatan when the unidentified gunman shot him at around 12:25 p.m.
Pangan said the area where Hilis was slain is a known haven of criminals in Dagat-Dagatan.
“Our operatives suspect that Hilis’ killing could be (related) to his work as a police asset but that remains to be established,” he said.
NPD-DPIU chief Superintendent Reynaldo Orante ordered his agents yesterday to track down Hilis’ killer. – Pete Laude
