Caloocan offers livelihood training to residents
Mayor Enrico Echiverri said the free livelihood training would provide residents with opportunities to earn extra income, and as a way of buffering the effect of the continuous price increases of basic goods.
“One of the main objects of the program are the mothers who find it difficult to make the family budget meet their daily needs,” Echiverri said.
The Labor and Industrial Relations Office (LIRO) through its Caloocan City Manpower Training Center has already conducted a week-long livelihood training in Barangays 28, 33 and 34 where residents learned skills and techniques in food technology, meat processing and detergent-making, among others.
LIRO chief Dante Esteban said the program would be more effective if residents organize themselves into a group, just like what the Nagkakaisang Kababaihan of Barangays 33 and 34 did.
Echiverri directed Esteban to extend assistance to enterprising mothers by introducing them to reputable suppliers and dealers who would accommodate their newfound business venture. – Pete Laude
