A suspected robber was killed in a shootout with policemen after he and his cohorts attempted to snatch the bag of a lady along Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City last Wednesday night.
The Quezon City Police District also arrested three alleged “Akyat-Bahay” robbery gang members after a chase at noon yesterday that started on Visayas Avenue and ended in Barangay Pag-asa.
The slain robber was identified only as a certain Castillo who is an alleged member of the gang responsible for the series of robberies along Commonwealth Avenue, said Superintendent Alex Sintin, chief of the QCPD’s District Police Intelligence Operating Unit.
Castillo died on the spot after the shootout with the police officers while his two gangmates escaped.
Sintin said operatives of the QCPD held a stakeout at the corner of Commonwealth and Luzon avenues at around 9 p.m. when they spotted the three suspects robbing a female resident.
The policemen tried to arrest the suspects who fired shots at the responding lawmen who fired back. Sintin was shot dead while his two companions escaped after they jumped into a nearby creek.
Police recovered from Castillo a caliber .38 revolver.
