Southern Police District (SPD) director Chief Superintendent Luizo Ticman said additional “discipline zones” will be established in the southern part of Metro Manila so that peace and order under his turf will be ensured.
Ticman said they plan to put up these zones in particular areas of Pateros, Taguig and Muntinlupa to “help intensify the monitoring of the situation in every city in southern Metro. It was conceived to deter commission of crimes all over Metro Manila.”
Existing “discipline zones” under the SPD include F.B. Harrison street to Lourdes street in Barangays 5 and 6, Zone 2, F. Fernando street; Barangays 68 and 69, Barangays 140 and 141; Taft Avenue Rotunda to Taft Avenue Extension; Apelo Street, St. Peter Street in Maricaban, Barangays 192 and 197; Barangay 201, Merville Access Road and Macapagal Boulevard, in Pasay City; Milkweed street in Barangay Rizal, Makati City; Barangay Baclaran in Parañaque City; Villa Coastal, Barangay Daniel Fajardo in Las Piñas City; Montillano street corner National Road in Alabang, Muntinlupa City; Fort Bonifacio Junction to Pasong Tamo Extension in Taguig City; and B. Morcilla Street in Barangay Poblacion, Pateros City.
Ticman said the supervision of the discipline zones is a joint endeavor of the police and concerned local government units. Traffic rules as well as laws and ordinances against jaywalking, littering, smoking, drinking in public, squatting, vending, presence of illegal terminals and barkers, and illegal water and electrical connections will be strictly enforced in these areas.
