Manila holds job fair today

Acting Manila Mayor Isko Moreno said a job fair will be held today to help out jobless residents.

Under the auspices of Mayor Alfredo Lim, Moreno said members of the city council, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority-Manila, and the Association of Technical Schools in Manila Inc., the job fair will be held at the Rajah Sulayman Park in front of the Baywalk area along Roxas Boulevard from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Moreno said 100 local and foreign firms will offer technical and vocational jobs at the fair. The National Bureau of Investigation and the Social Security System will also have kiosks to process documents for applicants.

He said all an applicant has to bring is a resume or bio-data, a barangay certification that he or she is a resident of Manila, and a diploma, if possible.

Moreno assured applicants that they will not fall prey to illegal recruiters since the recruitment agencies participating in the job fair are all duly licensed by the government.   – Sandy Araneta
