Police arrested three suspected robbers during an operation in Caloocan City Tuesday afternoon.
Superintendent William Macavinta, the city police chief, identified the suspects as Ariel Iglesias, 25; Reynante Locoson, 27; and a certain Froi, 17, all jobless and residents of Caloocan City.
At around 3 p.m. Tuesday, the policemen on patrol were informed by a concerned resident about the presence of three armed men at the vicinity of the Petron gas station on C-3 Road.
Police Officers 3 Arnel Repe and Ricardo Mariano Jr., and Police Officer 1 Melvie Salvador, proceeded to the area and chanced upon the three suspicious-looking men on a green tricycle parked near the gas station.
The policemen searched the suspects and found two of them were carrying handguns while the teenaged boy yielded a 12-inch kitchen knife. The suspects were immediately apprehended.
Macavinta said the suspects belong to a notorious gang led by Locoson, which is allegedly responsible for a series of gas station and highway robberies in Dagat-Dagatan, Caloocan, as well as in Malabon and Navotas.
