At least P2 million worth of property went up in smoke when eight residential homes were damaged during a one-hour fire in Sta. Ana, Manila yesterday morning.
Arson investigator Senior Fire Officer 2 Emmanuel Gaspar said the fire started at the second floor of Raymond Figuera’s house on Santan Street in Punta, Sta. Ana.
The fire started at 8:24 a.m. and reached fifth alarm at 8:29 a.m. before it was put out nearly an hour later.
A fire volunteer from Mandaluyong City, identified as Joven Amor, reportedly sustained head injuries when debris fell on him. Gaspar said Amor has been declared out of danger.
Gaspar said they would still have to conduct a thorough probe into the fire incident but initially said that the cause of the blaze could have been electrical in nature. – Evelyn Macairan
