12 men nabbed in Caloocan drug raid

A man was held for drug trafficking while 11 others were taken to jail for either possessing or using shabu in a series of raids conducted by the Caloocan police yesterday in the city’s red light district.

Superintendent Carlito Dimalanta, station anti-illegal drugs chief, said the operation was prompted by complaints of alleged blatant trading in illegal drugs in the area.

The raid was conducted in the sidestreets bounded by 3rd, 4th and 5th Avenues along Rizal Avenue Extension on East Grace Park.

Police arrested Danilo Salazar, 50; Armando, 33, Romeo, 38, Antonio,29 and Alejandro, 27, all surnamed Sunga, residents of 2nd street, Josefina street and BMBA Compound.

The others were identified as Rolando Cadayong, Guillermo Arrita, Gilbert Calara, Ariel Manalang, Michael Caledonio and Elizardo Cerillo.

Police seized an undetermined amount of shabu in plastic sachets and drug paraphernalia from the suspects. – Jerry Botial
