7 killed on Good Friday in QC

- Reinir Padua -

Just as most people were reflecting on Jesus’ teachings on Good Friday, seven persons were killed in separate incidents in Quezon City.

Reports reaching the Quezon City Police District-Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit said the victims – six men and a woman – were either stabbed, shot or beaten to death.

Three victims, identified as Jobilly Asan, Jang Lagsia, and Jayson Matias were found dead on the road in Paramount Subdivision at around 5 a.m. last Friday.

Reports said a resident heard two gunshots early morning, prompting her to call the subdivision’s security guard.

Aside from the gunshot wounds, the victims also had stab wounds in the face, neck, and torso.

Asan’s daughter said her mother and Lagsia could have been killed because they failed to remit P6,000 to their illegal drug supplier.

Recovered from the crime scene were two shells from .45 caliber pistol and a 12-inch knife.

Another victim, Nicolo dela Cruz, 18, was with a teenage boy who later shot him as they were going home from a trip to Bulacan.

The victim and his companions were teasing one another at a bus stop on Quirino Highway when the suspect shot Dela Cruz in the neck with a .38 revolver. The suspect is now in police custody.

At noon the same day, an altercation over leftover rice at a canteen in Barangay Valencia caused the death of Jess Villaflor.

The suspect, identified only as Ariel, wanted to have Villaflor’s leftover rice. The suspect struck Villaflor in the face, causing the victim to hit his head on the cement floor. He died sometime later.

In Barangay U.P. Village, at about 6 p.m., Glenn Acma, 33, was stabbed dead by Ricardo Villarin during a brawl while watching a billiards game.

Another victim, Cesar Villanueva, was also stabbed to death while sleeping in his residence on Quirino Highway. The suspect, Rodolfo Ventura, is now in the custody of the police.

Meanwhile, a hairstylist was discovered dead in his house in Barangay San Bartolome at 7 p.m. last Saturday. The body of Benjamin Salazar, 38, was bloated and bore stab wounds.

He was discovered after neighbors smelled an unpleasant odor from his house.
