More QC cops to secure bus terminals for Holy Week

-

The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) has assured the public of heightened police visibility in all bus terminals and other passenger holding areas during the Holy Week.

The city is host to numerous terminals for provincial buses: Tritran, JAC and JAM Liners ply routes in Southern Luzon while the Baliwag, Victory, Partas, Dagupan Bus, Five Star and Dominion Bus Lines ply the Northern Luzon provinces.

QCPD Director Senior Superintendent Magtanggol Gatdula said  they will coordinate with a private security agency hired by the MRT and bus stations to implement the conduct of security checks and inspection of luggage, handbags, packages and anything that could hold any explosives and prohibited materials before boarding time.

“We are still on normal alert status with a few days left before the week-long observance of the Lenten season. However, your Quezon City police is ready to respond to any call for emergency or police assistance as we expect the exodus of most residents to the provinces for vacation,” Gatdula said in a statement.

He said 60 police rookies, who recently completed their Public Safety Basic Recruit Course and Public Safety Field Training Program, were sent off to the QCPD’s 11 stations to augment police visibility on the streets.

Gatdula also called on residents who plan to go on out of town vacations to ensure that their houses are secured against burglars.

He also urged owners of banks and other business establishments to make sure that close circuit television cameras are properly and effectively installed for better security and protection against criminals. – Reinir Padua
