Taguig to foot bill for students’ graduation expenses

-

Taguig Mayor Sigfrido Tiñga has announced that the local government will once more shoulder graduation expenses in all their public elementary and secondary schools.

More than 14,700 students are expected to benefit from this “graduation gift.” This is the second year that the city government will shoulder graduation costs in public schools.

“We want to take away the burden of these expenses from the parents. In these times of rising prices, this is perhaps the best present we can give to the graduates and their families,” Tiñga said.

Last year, the city government provided for the graduates’ diploma holder, medals, refreshments, stage décor, chairs and sound system to altogether waive graduation fees in the city’s public schools. Cash incentives were also given to each school’s top 10 students.

Tiñga revealed that, in addition to last year’s graduation gifts, the city government will also print a unified yearbook and the graduation program for each school plus one 5R sized graduation photo for each student. Free togas will also be provided for all high school graduates.

Norma Adamos, Department of Education School Division Superintendent for Taguig and Pateros, expressed the belief that the move of the city government is a big help to the parents.

“We deeply appreciate the generosity and kindness of Mayor Tiñga. I am sure parents will be happy and thankful too for the concern he shows for our young students. I know this will make our public school students’ graduation a truly memorable experience,” Adamos said.  Rhodina Villanueva
