Fireman tries to shoot Cuneta kin

A fireman is now in hot water after he allegedly tried to shoot a relative of megastar Sharon Cuneta Wednesday night in Pasay City.

Robert Cuneta, 33, a musician and resident of Tramo street, complained at the City Police Station that Senior Fire Officer 3 Edmundo Ruamero threatened to kill him when the latter pointed a gun at him at the corner of Tramo and Villanueva streets at about 9:30 p.m.

Cuneta said he was with cousin Grandi, 39, when they bumped into Ruamero.  Cuneta and Ruamero reportedly had a disagreement in the past.

The complainant told Police Officer 3 Nestor Rubel, officer-on-case, that on seeing him, Ruamero suddenly drew his gun and fired at him. Cuneta was able to run and seek cover.

Residents in the area called the police for assistance but the suspect had gone when cops arrived.

During investigation, Ruamero denied that he tried to kill Cuneta. He, however, admitted firing his gun to warn residents who plan to create trouble in the area.

Charges were filed by policemen against Ruamero, who has only one year left before he retires from service.

However, Pasay City Fire Marshall Senior Inspector Junito Maslang said the concerned parties are now engaged in talks for a possible settlement of the case. – Rhodina Villanueva
