Two armed men, riding tandem on a motorcycle and wearing bonnets, shot dead a jobless man and wounded his companion during an ambush Thursday in Pasig City.
The victim, Ronald Ramos, 31, a resident of Durian st., Resettlement, Barangay Kalawaan sustained multiple gunshot wounds in the body. He died on the way to the hospital.
His neighbor, Jennylyn Ocol, 22, was hit in the right leg and is being treated at the Rizal Medical Center.
Police Officer 2 Rolly Lipata, said Ramos and Ocol were engaged in a conversation along Mangga Avenue when the two suspects shot them with handguns at about 5:30 p.m.
Police said the killers could be after Ramos as he was shot several times while a stray bullet hit Ocol. The two suspects fled on the same motorcycle right after the shooting.
Bystanders rushed the two victims to the Rizal Medical Center but Ramos was declared dead on arrival by attending physicians.
The police has yet to determine the motive behind the attack on Ramos. Eastern Police District director Chief Superintendent Leon Nilo de la Cruz ordered a follow-up operation to identify and arrest the two killers. — Non Alquitran
