Pasig hires 1,000 personnel to assist cops vs criminals
Pasig City Mayor Robert Eusebio has recruited 1,000 additional personnel to augment the city’s 350 police officers in ridding the streets of petty criminals.
Eusebio said he already brought the city’s lack of police officers to the attention of Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Avelino Razon Jr.
But while waiting for Razon to act on his request, Eusebio decided to recruit additional city personnel to help the police go after petty criminals and maintain peace and order in the city.
He hopes that with the 1,000 city personnel focusing on petty criminals and crime prevention, the 350 police officers will concentrate on curbing the activities of big-time crime and drug syndicates based in the city.
Eusebio said the city recruited 300 personnel for the Batas Ciudad Enforcement Office (BCEO), who were tasked to help the policemen in police visibility. Another 300 personnel were assigned to the Traffic and Parking Management Office (TPMO) while the remaining 400 are motorcycle riders, mostly professionals, who volunteered to spearhead various peace and order projects of the city. – Non Alquitran
