Fire razes lawmaker’s factory

-

A factory in Taguig City owned by Camarines Sur Rep. Luis Villafuerte was gutted after a fire yesterday afternoon .

Arson investigators said that the blaze which started around 12:25 p.m., immediately spread and gutted Lara’s Gifts and Decors factory located at the Veterans’ Complex in Barangay Western Bicutan.

The factory-warehouse is reportedly engaged in the manufacture of native handicrafts for export to other countries.

Superintendent Ramon Giron, City Fire Marshall, said it was fortunate that no one was inside the two-story building when the fire broke.

The blaze which reached Task Force Charlie, was declared under control around 2:05 p.m. after several firetrucks of the city and nearby provinces arrived at the scene.

No one was reported injured in the fire which damageed over P1 million worth of property.

Giron said they are still conducting a follow-up investigation to determine the cause of the fire.  – Rhodina Villanueva
