The United BF Homeowners Association Inc. (UBFHAI) will hold an election in Parañaque in the next few weeks in defiance of the management committee appointed by the Housing and Land Use Regulatory Board (HLURB) to temporarily run the affairs of the country’s biggest residential subdivision.
The MANCOM has also set the election of UBFHAI officials and board of directors.
Duing a meeting last week, UBFHAI directors denounced the HLURB for setting up the management committee, which is headed by a non-BF Homes resident.
Lawyer Renato Fernandez said reputable individuals comprising the UBFHAI are outraged by the HLURB’s “meddling” in their affairs based solely on unsubstantiated claims of missing funds.
UBFHAI board members said they comprise the majority faction representing 11 sectors covering some 50 of 72 smaller homeowners groups in the subdivison of 10,000 households.
They said they will call and conduct a regular election according to their Constitution.
Earlier, the management committee also submitted before the HLURB its own proposed rules and regulations for the conduct of UBFHAI elections from March 29 to May 18.
The committee, headed by lawyer Aristotle Sarmiento as chairman and Roberto Alfonso, Lorenzo Cinco, Santiago Dela Cruz, and Antonio Antonio as members, filed the proposal in compliance with the HLURB’s orders.
The management committee was originally created to run the day-to-day afairs of the UBFHAI while auditing the group’s financial records in relation to alleged anomalies exposed by former UBFHAI president Ronaldo Navarro. – Michael Punongbayan
