New IT school to rise in Las Piñas

A new school that will mold high school graduates in information technology (IT) professionals will soon rise in Las Piñas City, Mayor Vergel Aguilar said.

The IT Training Institute’s three story building, which has 25 classrooms, “will be completed in time for the opening of classes in June, he said, adding that it would accommodate more than 2,500 students.

Aguilar said the school will be equipped with state-of-the-art computer laboratory and facilities in order develop IT professionals who are locally and globally competitive.

“The modern IT Training Institute building will benefit 60 percent of the total 4,000 graduating students in public schools this coming April. The facility will somehow help provide quality education to the city’s thousands of students,” he said.

Aguilar said that graduates armed with IT skills would be gainfully employed, help uplift their family’s living conditions and eventually contribute in the economic growth of the country.

“Education is the best gift I could give to the next generation. The youth of the city deserve the best free education we can provide,” he said.

Aguilar is pushing for the modernization of the city’s public education system, which he said should have modern facilities and equipment similar to any private school in the country.

Another school, the Dr. Filemon C. Aguilar Information Technology Training Institute, a brainchild and priority project of the incumbent mayor, has been offering a free one-year course on either web development, graphic design and animation, networking and programming.
