Jealous man kills wife

A jealous man hacked his wife to death yesterday morning in Pasig City.

“I love her too much. I suspect that she’s having an affair with another man,” said the suspect, Edwin Rendal, 36, who surrendered to responding policemen moments after he attacked his wife Benevieve, 32. The police seized a bolo from the suspect.

Police investigators said Rendal, his wife, and daughter Jessica, 11, were sleeping in their house at No. 034 Rodriguez compound in Barangay Rosario.

At about 1 a.m., Rendal woke up and took a bolo then hacked his wife several times in different parts of the body.

The victim sustained multiple hack wounds and died on the spot.

Jessica, who witnessed the incident, rushed out of the house and reported the crime to their neighbors.

The couple has three children, two of whom are staying with their relatives in Cavite.

Rendal suspects that his wife is having an affair with a man in Cavite because she failed to return to their Pasig City house whenever she visits their children in Cavite.

Probers said Rendal is now detained at the Pasig City jail pending the filing of parricide charges against him.     – Non  Alquitran
