Las Piñas school to help South Koreans learn English

-

An international school in Las Piñas City and officials from South Korea recently inked an agreement that will help Korean students enhance their English-speaking skills.

The agreement provides for coordination and assistance between the Southville International School and Colleges (SISC) and school administrators from Goyang City, South Korea, particularly concerning education issues.

“The said foreign delegation visited us and observed teaching strategies which they plan to adopt and implement in schools in their own country. They see Southville as one competent academic institution,” Dennis Germano, SISC’s public relations and promotions manager, said.

South Korean congressman for education Kim In Seong led the delegation, which consisted of 22 government officials. They arrived in the country on Jan. 17.

He added that during the tour of SISC, they exposed the South Koreans to activities that focused on teaching English as a second language as well as to other teaching methodologies. The visitors also checked their existing facilities and school system.

The South Koreans also signed a memorandum of cooperation with Mayor Vergel Aguilar to pave the way for sisterhood ties between the cities of Las Piñas and Goyang, South Korea in terms of governance, educational development, cultural understanding, and urban planning and development.

Goyang City is said to be one of the world’s admired cities in terms of urban planning and local governance.   Rhodina Villanueva
