11 youths beat up nursing stude, 2 others at QC bar

A nursing student and his two friends were beaten up 11 youths in front of a bar in Quezon City last Thursday night.

Nursing student Louie Albert Serrano and his friends Michael Castro and a certain Miguel said they went to the Decades bar and restaurant at the corner of Roces Avenue and Tomas Morato street to fetch the girlfriend of one his friends.

While they were waiting outside the bar in Serrano’s red Honda ESI (UBE-583), suspect Aaron Lao got out of his gray Honda SRI and confronted the victim for no apparent reason. Lao’s car bore an 8 license plate in front and VAJ-168 at the back, according to the victims’ complaint.

During the altercation, Lao allegedly took the keys to Serrano’s vehicle and threw them away. He and 11 others then beat up Serrano and his two friends, and threw stones at the victim’s vehicle.

Lao also allegedly pointed a gun at Serrano and was about to fire when one of his companions stopped him. They then left the scene.

According to some witnesses, Lao, reportedly a high-ranking police official’s son, is a regular at the bar and is often involved in violent incidents in the area.   – Reinir Padua
