A gasoline boy who resented the scolding he received from his employer stabbed and killed his co-worker in their sleeping quarters in Sta. Mesa, Manila past midnight yesterday.
Police said the body of Mitchequil Orejas, 22, a stay-in gasoline boy, was discovered bloodied inside the workers’ sleeping quarters at 3167 Ramon Magsaysay Boulevard, Sta. Mesa.
A witness told police he saw his co-worker, Romnick Cono, 22, running away from the scene of the crime. Orejas was rushed to the De Ocampo Memorial Hospital, where he died an hour later due to a stab wound in the chest.
Police recovered a kitchen knife with bloodstains near the victim’s body.
SPO2 Edmundo Cabal said Orejas and Cono had been at odds with each other, with their conflict already affecting their work. Shortly before the stabbing, manager Noel Morales scolded the two gasoline boys and warned them that they will both lose their jobs unless they resolve their misunderstanding.
Cabal said Cono apparently resented the scolding and attacked Orejas with a kitchen knife.
Police said the suspect could have fled to Samar, his home province. – Nestor Etolle
