A stay-in helper committed suicide yesterday in Marikina City after his girlfriend, who is working abroad, failed to greet him on Christmas Day.
A co-worker, John Carlo Siccuan, 18, discovered the body of Marvin Ralph Pimentel, 22, at 4:50 a.m. yesterday in a vacant lot near the vulcanizing shop where he worked.
Superintendent Sotero Ramos Jr., Marikina City police chief said Pimentel was last seen alive telling his co-worker, John Carlo Siccuan, 18, that he will go into the shop to sleep.
However, after cleaning the vulcanizing shop, Siccuan was shocked to discover that Pimentel had hanged himself. Siccuan claimed he tried but failed to save the victim.
Ramos said Pimentel became depressed over the past few days after he failed to receive a phone call from his girlfriend.
“His co-workers said he told them he wanted to die,” an investigator said. Police are investigating if there was foul play involved in the incident. – Non Alquitran
