True to his promise, Manila Police District (MPD) director Chief Superintendent Roberto Rosales awarded the Sta. Cruz police station a complete computer set for arresting the most number of drug pushers and users in November and December.
Rosales earlier challenged his 11 police station commanders to make lawful arrests of pushers and users in an effort to strengthen the police campaign against illegal drugs. As an incentive, Rosales promised to award a computer to the police station that will make the most drug-related arrests.
The Sta. Cruz police station, led by chief Superintendent Romulo Sapitula, arrested 28 drug pushers and 40 users since last month.
The Sta. Cruz station has consistently topped Rosales' drive against illegal drugs since August, arresting a total of 77 pushers and 95 users and filing cases against them, records showed.
As a gesture, Sapitula donated the computer unit to his station’s anti-illegal drugs unit, headed by Inspector John Guiagui.
“This is a morale booster for us. Now I and my men will exert more effort to prove to our district director that our award is no fluke,” Guiagui told The STAR. – Nestor Etolle
