QC cops play Santa to street children

-

Quezon City cops spent the holidays playing Santa Claus to more than a hundred street children from different parts of the city.

According to the Quezon City Police District, some poor children in the city had the chance to meet their “Santa cops” at Camp Karingal on Monday.

Upon invitation of QCPD Director Senior Superintendent Magtanggol Gatdula, about 150 street children from different areas in the city trooped to the camp the day before Christmas.

Gatdula himself, was dressed in a red Santa Claus outfit, led the whole QCPD in the gift-giving program for less-fortunate children on Monday.

The QCPD chief was joined by Senior Superintendent Elmo San Diego and Senior Superintendent Federico Laciste, district deputy directors for operation and directorial staff, respectively, and other officers of the QCPD who were also dressed as Santa Claus.

Gatdula said that despite the plight of these children, a better prospect could still be in store for them and gifts like toys and clothes might help them appreciate the joys of the holidays.

“We see a bright future for these less fortunate children and so we thought of giving simple presents that would make them smile and feel the joy and real spirit of the season,” Gatdula added. – Reinir Padua
