Shipping firm employees robbed of P.7-M payroll

-

Seven armed men carted away P700,000 from two shipping firm employees who had just withdrawn the firm’s payroll money in Tondo, Manila Thursday.

Lorenzo Shipping Lines liaison officer Marcial Apolo, 35, and driver Joseph Guerero had just withdrawn P700,000 from two banks when their vehicle, an Isuzu Fuego, was blocked by seven armed men on five motorcycles at the Delpan Bridge at around 3:20 p.m.

One of the suspects grabbed Apolo’s bag, which contained the money, while another removed the ignition key of the victims’ vehicle. The suspects then drove towards Roxas Boulevard, the victims said.

The police set up chokepoints along the roads the suspects may have taken but failed to catch them. The suspects are now the subject of a manhunt. – Nestor Etolle
