A 68-year-old man was killed while two volunteer firemen were injured yesterday during a fire that gutted a house along Barangay Don Manuel, Quezon City.

Fire Chief Inspector Ruben Pascua, District 4 fire marshall, identified the fatality as Alejandro del Mundo a resident at 58 Sto. Tomas Street in Barangay Don Manuel.

Pascua said the fire broke out at about 2:47 a.m. and was placed under control by responding firemen an hour later.

Initial investigation showed that at the height of blaze the daughter of the victim and another occupant were able to get out of the house, however, Del Mundo was trapped inside the burning house.

Two fire volunteers were injured when they were hit by glass splinters after they tried to enter the house through the glass window. The identities of the volunteer firemen were not immediately available.

Firemen later recovered the charred remains of Del Mundo at the living room of the house.
